Braun is a German-based company established back in 1921. Later in 1967, Gillette bought this entire company and started controlling it. When the Procter and Gamble bought the Gillette, this company as a subsidiary came with it. So, Procter and Gamble are now controlling both Braun and Gillette.
Both of these brands are the world’s leading manufacturers of shaving accessories. While the Gillette masters in the production of shaving razors, the Braun takes the lead in the production of electric shavers.
Braun has been producing some fine electric shavers since it was founded. They release their products in different series. As the number of series ascends, the features become more advanced and improved.
We will be reviewing their series 7 and 9 products. Essentially, both series are good and have some really innovative and class-leading features. Since series 9, is the latest, some people might want to upgrade their shavers from 7 to 9 or go with the series 9 right off.
In this article, we would let you know if the upgrade is really worth it or is it better to just continue with what you already have.

Braun 790cc Vs 9290cc – A Side-by-Side Analysis
As 9290cc is the latest model, it has a greater number of shaving elements than 790cc. Basically, it has improved and advanced contour adaptations. On the other hand, despite being an old model, 790cc has 5 turbo sensitive mode, which 9290cc lacks.
Additionally, 790cc features a precision head which 9290cc also lacks. 9290cc has a LED display while the display of 790cc consists of a simple light indicator.
Other than these features, both of these shavers are pretty much the same. Both of these have intelligent sonic and auto-sensing technology. Both have a cleaning and charging unit. Additionally, charging time, water resistance, and charging time of both shavers are almost the same.
Shaving Elements – 9290cc Takes the Lead
Starting from shaving elements the 9290cc has a total of five shaving elements. It includes four cutting elements and one skin guard. In addition, it also has two specialized trimmer with titanium coating. These trimmers capture even the trickiest hair in a single stroke.
790cc, on the other hand, has four shaving elements in total. It includes three cutters and one skin guard. Moreover, there is just one trimmer which is not as effective as it should be.
Both of these shavers perform remarkably well, but 9290cc takes the lead in some aspects. 9290cc essentially has five shaving elements which are why it is a little more aggressive. The addition of two trimmers is also wonderful. Basically, these trimmers are very efficient when it comes to making the edges of beard and sideburns.
On the other hand, the 790cc has one less shaving element. It essentially includes three cutters and one skin guard. This is also an aggressive shaver but a little less aggressive than the former. The trimmer of this shaver is also not so effective. 9290cc makes 40,000 cuts per minutes while the 790cc makes 30,000 cuts.
Contour Adaptation – 9290cc with 10D Contour Adaption
The 9290cc, being the latest model can move in ten directions. The 790cc, on the other hand, can just move in eight directions. Although it may seem like a significant difference, it is not. A head that can move into 8 direction is enough to get the hair from every contour of the face.
It doesn’t mean that 10D contour adaption doesn’t perform better, it certainly does. 10D is definitely better than 8D, but there is no need to upgrade to 10D when the 8D is performing well.
Operating Modes – Five Modes Makes 790cc Better
The 790cc has five turbo sensitive modes. These modes can be changed with the push of a button. With these modes, you can adjust the aggressiveness and power consumption of the shaver. As you make it more sensitive, it delivers fewer cuts in a single stroke and becomes gentler on the skin. On the contrary, when it is least sensitive it becomes aggressive and delivers maximum cuts 30,000 per minute.
This system is good for those people who have coarse hair, but sensitive skin. While cutting the coarse hair, one can make it more aggressive. You can push it back to least sensitive when the coarse hair is cut and only fine ones are remaining. This will cut the hair efficiently and would prevent any sort of discomfort which may happen because of aggressiveness.
Wet or Dry Shave – 9290cc Does Both/790 cc only Dry
Both wet and dry shaves are possible with 9290cc while with the 790cc you are restricted to dry shave only. Although 790cc is waterproof still, it doesn’t provide a wet shave. If you try to shave with gel or foam it gets stuck. However, when it comes to dry shave it is pretty good at it.

Braun 7893s Vs Braun 9293s – Which Features Make it Worth the Upgrade
Moving on with Braun Series 7 vs 9 – 9293s is the latest model and because of that it certainly has some improved features. For a starter, it has increased numbers of shaving elements. Moreover, the blades are sharp enough to cut a three-day beard growth.
The 7893s on the other hand on has less shaving elements. Unlike 9293s, it doesn’t work effectively on the long beard. All the models in series 9 have 10D contouring adaptation. However, in this series 7, there is 8D contouring adaptation. Same goes for these two models.
There are some features where despite being old model 7893s takes the lead. The head of this shaver is thin despite having 4 blades. Because of this thin head, it shaves on the trickiest body parts.
The 9293s, on the other hand, has a bigger head, so you would find it difficult to shave those tricky areas. Head of 7893s features MacroMotion which provides maximum contact with the skin on tricky areas.
The 9293s features a really nice grip which reduces the chances of slipping when your hands are wet.
Features like charging time, SyncroSonic technology and provision of both wet and dry shave are pretty much same.
Contouring Adaptation and Head Lock – 9293s Holds the Advantage
The 7893s features 8 contouring adaptation while the 9293s has 10 contouring adaptation. The 10 contouring adaptations essentially allow a little more flexibility.
In addition, both of them feature head lock system. This system allows you to lock the head while you are shaving the tricky areas like neck and chin. Lock makes the shaver non-flexible and decreases the risks of nicks and cuts
The 9293s has a multi-head lock system. This allows you to lock the head in more than one position. The 7893s, on the other hand, has a single head lock which allows you to lock but in a single direction only
Quality of Blades and Shaving Efficiency – 92932s Works Better on Denser Hair
Both of these shavers are very efficient and give a tough time to each other when compared. The unique selling point of 9293s is that it can work well even on the 3-day long beard.
Essentially, the electric shavers are for daily shaves. They do not work well on long hair. If a shaver can work on the three-day-long beard, as does 9293s, it is remarkable. In addition, it features one more cutter than 7893s which makes it more aggressive. The addition of cutter increases its efficiency to 40,000 cuts per minutes.
On the other hand, the 7893s provides 30,000 cuts per minute. It is slightly less efficient than the latest model. However, it features MacroMotion technology which enables its head to pivot at an angle of 40 degrees.
This angle makes it head to navigate easily along the contours and provides maximum skin contact. This technology increases its shaving efficiency as it allows maximum skin and blade contact.
Head of the Shaver – Smaller Head Makes 7893s Reach Difficult Points
Size of the head is very important when we talk about shavers. A shaver with smaller head can go into the areas like under the nose, armpits, edges of beard and sideburns. A bigger head, on the other hand, finds itself difficult to reach those areas. Hence, the larger size limits the ability of a shaver.
The 7893s despite having four shaving elements features a thin head which is why it can go into the tricky areas. Unlike 7893s, the 9293s features a comparatively bigger head which is why you might it difficult to shave tricky areas.
AutoSense Technology – A Common Feature
This technology senses the change in the hair density and adjusts the speed of blades accordingly. It increases the speed where the hair is coarse and reduces it when the hair is thin.
This technology is present in both of these products. This technology, in essence, is pretty effective for people with sensitive skins. Since it decreases the speed in less dense areas, it reduces the risk of nicks and cuts.
Braun 760cc vs Braun 9093s – Differences that Matter
When it comes to Braun series 7 vs 9, as mentioned, there are a few characteristic features of each series. These features are present in almost all of their models. The series 7 features 8D contouring adaptation while series 9 has 10 directions.
Additionally, the number of shaving elements in series 7 is four while in series 9 it is five. The display of series 7 is just a simple LED light, while the display of series 9 is proper digital LED screen.
When it comes to 760cc vs 9093s, we can draw a comparison with three features. The first one is the grip. The 760cc lacks proper grip, while the 9093s has a proper grip.
The latest model comes with charging and cleaning station while the older does not come with any such system. Intelligent sonic technology is present in the 760c while the 9093s lacks it.
Grip – 9093s has an Ergonomic Grip
A grip may not seem a catchy feature to some shavers, but it is very significant in fact. A lot of shavers allow both wet and dry shave. During the dry shave, the grip is not so important, but when it comes to the wet shave it becomes vitally important.
A wet shave is usually carried out by foam or shaving gel. While applying that gel your hands get wet. The chances of slippery increase a lot. Since these shavers are made up of plastic all they require is a single trauma to break them apart.
Other than that, a slippery grip increases the chances of nicks and cuts. The 9093s features an ergonomic grip that the 760cc lacks. This is a must look feature if you are a wet shaver.
Intelligent Sonic Technology – Gives 760cc The Edge
Basically, this technology detects the change in hair density and adjusts the speed of blades accordingly. This technology is really effective for people with sensitive skins.
This is present in the 7760cc while the 9093s lacks it.
Charging and Cleaning Station – New Version of 760cc Has It
As described earlier, cleaning and charging station improves the user-friendliness. It is present in 760cc-4.
Braun 740s Vs Braun 9095cc
Both of these shavers share almost same features like intelligent sonic technology, flexible cutting elements, and pivoting head.
Additionally, both provide wet and dry shave. Both of these shavers are water resistant. Moreover, battery timings are also the same.
The feature where 9095cc takes the lead is the display, quadruple action cutting system, and cleaning station.
Cutting System – Quadruple Action Makes 9095cc Better
The 9095cc features a quadruple action cutting system. This system allows the blade to get the hair from four directions.
So, even if the direction of hair growth is different from others it would still get cut. This action is best for ingrown hair which is responsible for razor bumps.
Some people have a beard growing in multiple directions, this system is also best for them. Essentially, it cuts the hair from every direction.
The 9095cc features this system which is why it is best for people with sensitive skins. Moreover, it is also better for those who get razor bumps. The 740s lacks this feature.
Display – 9095ss Has Digital Display
The 9095cc essentially has an improved display as it has a digital LED screen. It basically shows the battery percentage after every time you use the shaver. Additionally, it tells you when you need to charge and when the battery is full.
On the other hand, the display of 740s consists of 3 LED lights. These lights tell the battery status by showing different colors.
Charging and Cleaning Station – A Trademark Feature of Series 9
This station essentially cleans and charges the shaver. The 740s does not come with this station, so you would have to wash it manually. However, the 9095cc comes with it and you need to simply put the shaver in the station after use to clean it.
Braun Series 7 vs 9 – Improved Features in Series 9
Since series 9 is the latest model of Braun, it certainly has some improved features. Essentially, there are three main features that Braun have improved. There are some slight improvements in different models, but these are the feature that every model of series 9 shares. Let’s take a look at them.
Shaving Elements – Best in the Market
Braun increased the Shaving elements in series 9 by one. In series 7, there are four total shaving elements. These essentially include three cutters and one skin guard. However, the series 9 features an extra cutter which makes it more aggressive than series 7.
The maximum cuts series 7 can deliver is 30,000. However, the series 9 delivers 40,000 cuts per minutes, this is because of the additional cutter.
In addition, there are two trimmers built in the foil which is best for shaping the beard and sideburns.
Display – Improved Digital Display
All of series 9 models have improved the digital display. It essentially features a digital LED which provides the numerical status of the battery. It not only tells the battery percentage accurately but also make the shaver more elegant.
Contouring Adaptations – 10d Adaptations Makes Series 9 a Hit
The series 9 models have a greater number of contouring adaptations. Essentially, they can adapt themselves in 10 different directions. However, the series 7 models could only adapt in 8 directions. In essence, it makes the head of series 9 models more flexible. A flexible head makes them able to get more hair from the contours of the face.
Braun Series 7 vs 9 – A Look at Similarities
Battery and Charging Time – Last Around 50 Minutes
Essentially, the charging time and battery timing of all the shavers are pretty much the same. When fully charged, they last 50 minutes when in continuous use. However, for single shaves, they can last around a week. They take almost one hour to charge completely.
Water Resistance – Makes Cleaning Easy
All the models of series 7 and 9 are waterproof. This makes their maintenance and cleaning pretty easy. Some of them come with cleaning units. Those who do not come with it can be rinsed under water easily.
Flexible Head – Moves with the Contour of Face
Head of all the shavers mentioned above is flexible. Although some may have a greater degree of flexibility, there is not a single shaver which is not flexible.
Shaving Elements – Each Element Cuts A Particular Hair Type
Each of these shavers contains four to five different type of shaving elements. These elements are designed for a different type of hair. Each element has a different function and cut a particular type of hair. Combination of different elements makes the shaver very effective.
Trimmer – For Shaping and Edging
All of these models have a pop-up trimmer. You can use it to shape the beard and the sideburns. This is a nice feature which is really good for people with mustache and beard.
Should you upgrade from series 7 to series 9?
It really depends on the model you are using right now. When it comes to shaving efficiency, the series 9 aces that without a doubt. But, it does not mean that series 7 lags much behind. Series 7 has four shaving elements which are very nice for a shaver.
The second improved feature is contouring adaptation. The series 9 features 10 contouring adaptations which are remarkable. However, the series 7 has 8 contouring adaptations which are more than enough to get the hair from contours.
The series 9 most certainly has some improved feature,s but series 7 is also not that far behind. There are some features where still series 7 takes the lead.
The purpose of this comparison was to let you know the similarities and differences between the two series to help you make a better decision. I hope this was helpful and if you have anything to add or suggest feel free to comment in the given section.
